Social Dancing

At Lessons in Ballroom, most of our beginner adult students want to quickly learn social ballroom dances that are familiar and practical. Rumba, Cha Cha, Swing, Salsa and Waltz are the most popular social dances. We have expert instructors to teach all of these dances, and they are not hard to learn.

Novice dancers who have learned some Swing, Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha and Salsa will not have to sit out many music selections, so it is easy to have fun after a little training. Tango, Foxtrot, Samba, Merengue, and Hustle (Disco) are also popular.

At Lessons in Ballroom, we have 'practice parties' after our classes on Fridays and Saturdays. These functions help beginners to learn how to utilize their training in dancing environments similar to the dance events at clubs, resorts, or on cruise ships.

To support the progress of our students, Lessons in Ballroom provides a written program of the music selections together with the dances customarily done to each music selection. Students can always know the music that will be played next and the dances that are usually appropriate for that music.

Experienced dance students and instructors also participate at practice parties to assist beginners and to demonstrate the dancing our students are learning in more advanced classes and private lessons.

Practice parties offer students exceptional opportunities to practice the skills they have learned and to learn more by watching other students at all levels. These sessions will also be fun! Light snacks and sodas are provided.
